The Research Journal: The Journal CAJLE

The publication of this collection of research papers is one of the main undertakings of the university chapter of CAJLE. Publication began with Volume 1 in 1997, and currently it is published annually every summer. Topics covered include Japanese language education (theoretical essays and practical experiences reports), Japanese linguistics (including second language acquisition, immersion programs, and bilingual education), and general linguistics.

Over a period of eight years starting in 1991, this test was developed as a tool for assessing the conversational ability of children who receive heritage language education in a bilingual environment. With a detailed full account of every aspect of the test including an evaluation of the Japanese language and conversational abilities of the youth, an outline of the exam, its method of implementation, a full-size picture guide, a real example of the exam, and the process used to score and evaluate it, this publication will enable the reader to put the test into practical use.
